Designer Profile
The first career I remember wanting was to be a fashion designer when I was five years old. Not just any fashion designer, I wanted to design for rock stars. What spoke clearly to me from my formative years was avant garde spectacle. As I grew up, contemporary street fashion didn’t draw me in. Instead, I found myself inspired by themed events, often going the extra mile to create distressed invitations to similarly fervid themed costume parties. I was always in a performing art, from orchestra to choir, and then finally theatre. When I started college, I continued on the drama and expanded my personal interests into historic fashion and cosplay. I was lucky to be able to take sewing classes and costuming classes under the tutelage of Mela Hoyt-Heydon, which taught me a variety of skills from millinery, crafts, and dyeing. Through the continuation of my education, I have been able to expand my skills into patternmaking and draping, and increase my practical skills knowledge, and continue my passion of costume construction and design, as well as develop a skilled dive into working wardrobe crews.
